Bodmin Jail Site Visit
$23.00
Description
Built in 1779, Bodmin Jail closed its doors as a prison in 1927. The Grade II listed building was largely in ruins, with many areas without a roof for over 70 years. A complex and unique restoration project has transformed it from an 18th century prison to a stunning boutique hotel and attraction immersed in history. This CPD is presented by Kirsten Honey who covers the rich and varied history of the site, and Colin Norman FCIOB who talks about the unique challenges the renovation posed from a construction perspective. As a Senior Quantity Surveyor for the project, Colin has real first-hand knowledge of the restoration, which included retaining and restoring 9000 tonnes of stone which originated from the local Bodmin Moor.
