Qualifications & Chartered Membership

Qualifications & Chartered Membership

The Academy offers a range of courses designed to give professionals access to industry relevant qualifications and routes into CIOB Membership.

Chartered Membership Programme

If you have significant experience in construction but lack an honours degree level qualification, this is your route to MCIOB.

Typically those enrolling on the programme will have worked in a management role for 5 years, plus hold no qualifications, or have a CIOB level 4 diploma in Site Management, or have technical qualifications such as a HNC or HND.

Certificate in Fire Safety for Construction

This level 6 course is aimed at improving the fire safety awareness for managers in the construction industry and for those who are faced with managing fire safety in the workplace. You will learn about current and future legislation, building design and building construction, fire risk assessments, fire science and human behaviour, and most importantly, how to manage and implement fire safety systems.

CIOB Level 6 Diploma in Building Safety Management

This course will prepare you with the knowledge and skills to manage building safety in line with legislation and regulations. You will learn the techniques for managing the safety of the occupied building. The course will prepare you to look after the day-to-day management of fire and structural safety in higher-risk buildings and how to establish a clear point of contact for residents for fire and safety-related issues.

Certificate in Site Management

Gaining the Level 4 Site Management Certificate gives you a professional qualification that is industry recognised, allows you to apply for an CSCS AQP Card, and will provide you with the skills to manage people, activities and processes on construction sites.

This course is for you if:

You’re aiming to progress to a management role.  Learners come from a variety of roles including site supervisor, general foreman or assistant site manager. Others are estimators, clerk of works and trades people. You will need supervisory experience.

or you have a degree in a non-construction subject and are employed in construction.

or you’re a forces leaver, with supervisory experience and working in construction.
